This ESP course is designed for Master 1 students in Healthcare Management and aims to develop advanced English communication skills required in professional healthcare and managerial environments. The course combines specialized terminology, authentic readings, and practical communication tasks to help students function effectively in real-world healthcare management contexts.
The first chapter introduces students to key concepts related to goods, services, service management, and materials management. Through brainstorming activities, authentic readings, and terminology-building tasks, students explore the characteristics of services and the different types of economic activities. Writing skills are strengthened through practice with relative pronouns, expressing dissatisfaction, and producing formal complaint letters relevant to service-related issues.
Focusing on the healthcare sector, the second chapter provides insight into the nature of healthcare organizations and the functions of managers within these institutions. Students work with authentic materials and practice using modals and collocations to describe managerial roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes. Special attention is also provided to managing people, resources, and service delivery in healthcare environments.
The final chapter, on the other hand, introduces the principles of knowledge management, including knowledge creation, storage, sharing, and application within healthcare organizations. Students engage with authentic texts and terminology-based exercises to build their professional vocabulary.
